There is an increasing demand in the area of industrial communication on IP based intercom stations. Typical applications are e.g. emergency phones. The most important argument for an IP based solution is the cost for the separate dedicated cabling required for conventional solutions in a distributed environment of an industrial factory. Additionally IP based systems enable remote maintenance and control.
